"La Fuerza" ("The Force") is a single by Newen Afrobeat on PHŌNÉ Records, with a release date of Friday, October 30, 2026. It is the band's first new song since "Liverpool Session" (2025) and the first taste of the stage opened by their next studio album, the record the group is preparing through 2026, which deepens the crossing of afrobeat, Latin American music and contemporary elements of jazz, soul and electronics. The track runs 4:44 and is released as a digital single, also in high resolution (24-bit / 48 kHz) on Qobuz.
Newen Afrobeat is one of the most influential bands of the Latin American afrobeat scene. Formed in Santiago, Chile in 2009, it was the country's first afrobeat band and in more than fifteen years has taken its music to stages and festivals across the Americas, Europe and Africa. Its discography includes the debut album "Newen Afrobeat" (2014), "Newen Plays Fela" (2017, with Seun Kuti, Cheick Tidiane Seck and members of Egypt 80), "Curiche" (2019), the album "Grietas" (2024, with Lido Pimienta, Dele Sosimi, Joe Vasconcellos and Chico César) and "Liverpool Session" (2025), recorded entirely on analog equipment.
The cover of "La Fuerza", by Chilean illustrator Wacko (@wacko_art), is an Andean landscape: a snow-capped mountain over a red desert, a lagoon with flamingos and guanacos under a violet sky and a full sun. That imagery of altitude and territory matches the title and sets the tone of the single, which the band will present live at its upcoming concerts.
