Grietas (with Lido Pimienta)

Official lyric video for "Grietas", the Newen Afrobeat song with Colombian-Canadian artist Lido Pimienta that gives the album Grietas (2024, OfficeHome Records) its name and opens it. The digital animation is by Juan Sáez; the track was recorded at Santuario Sónico, mixed by Francisco Infante and mastered by Carlos Barros, and came out in November 2023, almost a year before the record.

The lyrics, by Fran Ri, are an inventory of the climate crisis read from Latin America: melting glaciers, continental cracks, wildfires, Guatemala's dry corridor, and a question the chorus repeats, "sustain life or death?". The lyric video format puts that text up front, which is what the song asks for.
