Upside Down (feat. Tony Allen)

Live recording of Newen Afrobeat with Tony Allen, drummer and co-founder of afrobeat alongside Fela Kuti, performing "Upside Down" at FGO Barbara, Paris, in October 2015. The band published it on its channel ten years later, in October 2025, as a document recovered from its archive.

As the band tells it, that concert with Les Frères Smith was part of their first visit to Nigeria and their first trip to Europe, where they met Oghene Kologbo and Tony Allen, whom they invited to play this piece, the only one in Fela's repertoire sung by a woman. The video was shot by Javiera Naranjo, Juan Esteban Morales, Matías Veras and Camila Fuentes, edited by Javiera Naranjo, with sound by Álvaro "Viruta" Villalobos.

"Upside Down" also opens the EP Newen Plays Fela (2017), recorded in Lagos with Seun Kuti and members of Egypt 80.
